Congratulations, Sharon Sims MNZM!
Bowls Manawatū extends its warmest congratulations to **Sharon Sims MNZM** on being awarded **Life Membership of Bowls New Zealand**.
This prestigious honour recognises Sharon’s distinguished playing career and her exceptional service to bowls at club, centre, national and international levels.
Sharon’s outstanding achievements include:
* Representing New Zealand in **330 international matches**
* Winning **Commonwealth Games gold** in the Women’s Fours in 2002
* Securing multiple **World Championship and Asia Pacific medals**
* Serving as a long-standing **Blackjacks coach and selector**
* Being appointed a **Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit**
* Induction into the **Bowls New Zealand Hall of Fame** and **World Bowls Hall of Fame**
* Continuing to serve as a Bowls New Zealand selector and Patron
Sharon has dedicated decades to playing, coaching, selecting, mentoring and supporting others throughout the bowls community. Her contribution to our sport has been truly exceptional.
We are incredibly proud of you, Sharon. This recognition is thoroughly deserved.

Congratulations to our winners of the 2026
“The open men represented Bowls Manawatu this year in Auckland and across the three playing days there were some great bowls played in very good spirit. It’s great to see a team of eight players proud to represent the Manawatu at this high level. Whilst the team was unable to qualify for the quarter finals, we pushed the finalists Canterbury and Wellington hard and gave them some tough competition. Thanks to all the players who have represented Manawatu this year in both in the open and the development representative fixtures throughout the year, well done to the woman’s open team re their achievement in Auckland. Now we turn our attention to the 2026 – 2027 session ahead, well done to all the players who won centre titles this year with some stella games played, winter well everyone and let’s get ready to be even better this coming session. Thanks for all the support, BL and Gushy”.
