At the conclusion of the National Club Champs, Manawatu can reflect on a very successful tournament. The Women’s team from Terrace End qualified in the fours but lost to Queenstown who went on to the final. Congratulations again to Terrace End for their win in their Womens Pairs.
Another successful day for Manawatu entries in the National Club Champs in Dunedin.
The women’s triples of Mere Fryer, George Kahui-Rogers and Bev Budd made the final after wins over Taieri and Paritutu. They were unable to repeat their heroics from the other day going down 21-4 in the final.
The mens triples from Johnston Park missed out in the quarterfinals to Browns Bay who then reluctantly had to default their final game due to travel. The mens team from Maungaturoto won while in the clubhouse while the ladies had to go out and play.
Both teams played well to qualify out from their sections on the first day and reaching the last 8 is a fine effort.
